Cristóbal
Anwandter was born in 1980. Since his early childhood he showed
affinity with the arts, which led him to begin his formal training
in 1998, coming into contact with several painters of the figurative-academic
area in order to acquire a complete and integrating formation, complementing
it with advanced human figure and philosophy courses.
In
2001 he travels to Mexico City, where he exchanges experiences with
Mexican painters, sharing perceptions about Latin American figurative
art, and ultimately exhibiting his work in a two-nation (Mexico-Chile)
show.

Anwandter’s
work transits through contemporary figuration and from there he
presents us with his painting subjective view and execution, and
in this case, the human figure.
Synthesis, definition, tidiness, and audacity are all elements interacting
in a sort of counterpoint in his painting. Here is the source of
the contemporariness in the fusion between his own elements and
the heirs of different schools where figurations have lived.
The human figure and the way of painting are both the main characters
and mutually dependent, interweaving back and forth with accents
and silences.
Figure, subject, amidst an ontological quest - unquestioned, unanswered.
Only proposals stemming from its own life perception; from living.
Subjects depicted in atemporal spaces so as not to distract us with
anecdotes suggesting different emotional scenarios.
A painting that can leave no one indifferent because it gives way
to a dialogue that requires no elaborate or descriptive scenes.
Different genres and life stages in suspended states, simply being.
Isn’t the human figure the element par excellence where we
recognize ourselves, the universal language?
There is the human being, with his life experiences and feelings,
facing the other who sees himself in the mirror of his own reality.
The painting calls our attention in gestures and textures, exhibiting
different strokes: from the gross paintbrush to the lightest brush,
interacting with the spatula move, gushes and more uncontrollable
stains.
Glazings and direct painting create sensations that sensually reveal
chromatic games between warm and cold.
Different approaches to the painting tell about a plastic search,
a strictly pictorial interest, validating the painting and emphasizing
the endless ways of becoming sensitive with and through it.
